Freeze-Thaw Effects on Pools: What Utah Homeowners Should Know
Utah's four distinct seasons are one of the things that make living here special. But those changing seasons can be tough on your swimming pool.
During winter, temperatures around your pool can repeatedly rise above freezing during the day and fall below freezing again at night. Water melts, moves into small cracks and porous surfaces, freezes again, expands, and eventually thaws.
This repeated process is known as a freeze-thaw cycle.
